Anillamientos de Flamenco del Caribe en Yucatán: actualidad y perspectivas

RESUMEN

Desde hace quince años, la ONG Niños y Crías A.C., en coordinación con la dirección de la Reserva de la Biosfera Ría Lagartos, lleva a cabo el marcaje individual de un por- centaje representativo de la población nacida cada año, para su posterior identificación. Este evento tiene tres componen- tes fundamentales: educativo, científico y permite recaudar fondos. El número de flamencos nacidos en la reserva se ha incrementado de 4200 en 1999 a 15000 ejemplares en 2013. En esta etapa nacieron más de 77000 pollos, de los cuales 4466 fueron anillados (máximo, 523 en un año). En el último

anillamiento (2013), luego de una reproducción de 15000 po- llos de flamencos a los 90 días de nacidos, se anillaron 482 ejemplares por 280 voluntarios de diversas instituciones am- bientalistas y del gobierno.

ABSTRACT

For fifteen years, the NGO Niños y Crías A.C., in coordination with the management of the Ría Lagartos Biosphere Reserve, has carried out the individual marking of a representative percentage of the population born each year, for subsequent identification. This event has three key components: educational, scientific, and fundraising. The number of flamingos born in the reserve has increased from 4,200 in 1999 to 15,000 in 2013. At this stage, more than 77,000 chickens were born, of which 4,466 were ringed (maximum, 523 in one year). In the last
ringing (2013), after a reproduction of 15,000 flamingo chicks at 90 days old, 482 specimens were ringed by 280 volunteers from various environmental institutions and the government.
