In an effort to protect the population of the Caribbean pink flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) in the Yucatan Peninsula, the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas and Organizaci\u00f3n Ni\u00f1os y Cr\u00edas A.C., are jointly developing an Integral Conservation Program, whose main objectives are: a) to ensure the availability of nesting sites; b) to reinforce the protection conditions of the feeding sites; c) to guarantee that both types of sites are provided with fresh water sources from springs; d) to know the demography of the pink flamingo population in the Yucatan Peninsula; e) to study the survival and migratory movements of the flamingo; and f) to promote the importance of protecting this species among the inhabitants of the Yucatan coast.<\/p>\n<\/div>
